US Open Announces Record $108m Prize Fund
The US Open will offer a record $108 million prize fund for the 2026 tournament, a 20 per cent increase from last year. The singles champions will each receive $5.5 million, while first-round losers will earn $140,000.
The US Open will offer a record $108 million prize fund for this year’s tournament, representing a 20 per cent increase from the 2025 edition.
The singles champions will each receive $5.5 million, a 10 per cent increase from last year, while first-round losers will earn $140,000.
The prize pool includes $2 million allocated to a player welfare fund following demands from leading tennis players for greater financial benefits.
The four Grand Slam tournaments have also announced the formation of a Grand Slam Player Council as part of efforts to give players a greater voice in decisions affecting the sport.
Player representatives have previously called for each Grand Slam to allocate 16 per cent of its revenue to prize money, with the figure expected to rise to 22 per cent by 2030.
The United States Tennis Association said the increased prize money represented a significant first step in a multi-year investment in players.
The increase is particularly significant for lower-ranked players, with first-round prize money rising by 27 per cent compared with last year.
There will also be increased payments for players competing in the mixed doubles event during qualifying week, while the winners will continue to share a $1 million prize.
The USTA is expected to publish its latest financial statement before the start of the US Open main draw.
