Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has welcomed a peace initiative by the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, following the recently concluded governorship election.
Adeleke described Oyebamiji’s call for peace as a positive development and urged political actors and their supporters to embrace reconciliation in the interest of the state.
The governor said the election had ended and that attention should now shift towards governance, development and improving the welfare of residents.
He called on supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and APC to avoid actions capable of creating tension or deepening political divisions across the state.
Adeleke stressed the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence, saying political differences should not prevent stakeholders from working together for the development of Osun.
He also commended residents for their participation in the electoral process and urged them to continue to maintain peace after the polls.
The governor's response followed Oyebamiji's appeal for political leaders and supporters to reconcile after the election and work towards peace in the state.
Adeleke said his administration remained committed to inclusive governance and would continue to pursue policies aimed at improving the lives of the people of Osun.
