Tinubu Constitutes APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, Names Yari DG
President Tinubu has constituted the APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, naming former Zamfara Governor Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General.
President Bola Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general election, appointing former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was named Secretary of the campaign council.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the Presidency on Saturday and signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as Vice-Chairman I. The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, was named Vice-Chairman II.
The APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, will serve as Deputy Secretary, while Hadiza Bala-Usman was appointed Assistant Secretary.
The council will also have a group of senior advisers comprising former APC National Chairman Bisi Akande, media executive Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, former Senate President Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed Deputy Directors-General for the Southern and Northern zones.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole will oversee mobilisation as Deputy Director-General, while President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, was named Deputy Director-General for Administration.
James Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Other appointments cover legal affairs, media and strategic communication, new media, election planning and coordination.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, will serve as Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Segun Dada, who held the position during the 2022/2023 campaign, returns as Director of New Media.
Tinubu charged members of the council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election.
The President also urged campaign leaders to reach out to other party members who were not formally listed, saying they should be encouraged to contribute to the campaign.
Tinubu said the party would campaign on the achievements of his administration and urged members to showcase what he described as progress made by the government.
