Troops Repel Lakurawa Attack in Kebbi, Recover RPGs, Explosives
Troops repelled Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State, recovering RPGs, explosives, motorcycles and other equipment during a clearance operation.
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully repelled an attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State, recovering rocket-propelled grenade launchers, explosives, and other military equipment during a follow-up clearance operation.
According to an operational report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the operation was carried out by troops of the 8 Division under Sector 2 as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the North-West.
The report indicated that the troops made contact with members of the Lakurawa around Dogon Daji in Dandi Local Government Area on Sunday during an offensive mission.
Following the encounter, the soldiers pursued the fleeing attackers and conducted an exploitation operation across the area to recover abandoned weapons and disrupt their movements.
Recovered items included rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launch tubes, live grenades, several improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two motorcycles, communication equipment, a charger, and other personal belongings left behind by the terrorists.
Military sources said the recovery of the weapons highlights the continued pressure being mounted on armed groups operating in the region, as troops intensify clearance operations to restore stability and protect communities.
The operation is part of broader efforts under Operation Fansan Yamma to degrade terrorist networks, particularly in border communities where armed groups have attempted to regroup following sustained military offensives.
Residents in affected areas have been urged to remain vigilant and provide timely intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
The Nigerian military has continued to record operational gains in recent months, with several coordinated offensives targeting armed groups across Kebbi and neighbouring states.
Authorities say operations will be sustained until all identified threats in the region are neutralised and normalcy is fully restored.
