President Tinubu Inaugurates Ultra-Modern Assisted Reproductive and Infertility Centre
Nigeria has inaugurated a new Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and Infertility Centre as part of efforts to expand access to advanced fertility care and reduce outbound medical tourism.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially commissioned a state-of-the-art Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and Infertility Centre, marking a major milestone in the administration's efforts to modernise healthcare infrastructure and expand access to specialized medical services.
The newly unveiled medical facility is equipped with cutting-edge clinical infrastructure designed to provide comprehensive fertility assessments, advanced in vitro fertilisation (IVF) procedures, and modern reproductive care solutions for couples facing conception challenges.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the President emphasized that the establishment of the specialized facility reflects the Federal Government's unwavering dedication to revamping the national healthcare ecosystem, reducing the need for medical tourism, and retaining domestic clinical expertise.
"This facility represents a significant step forward in our quest to bring world-class healthcare delivery to the doorsteps of our citizens," the President stated. "By investing in advanced reproductive technologies, we are not only addressing a critical medical need but also restoring hope and bringing joy to thousands of families across the nation."
Health sector stakeholders have warmly received the initiative, noting that the high cost and limited availability of advanced fertility treatments have long forced many citizens to seek options abroad. The opening of this domestic public centre is expected to significantly democratise access to quality care.
The administration further indicated that the new complex will serve as a premier training and research hub for local gynaecologists, embryologists, and fertility nurses, ensuring that Nigeria remains at the forefront of medical innovation and reproductive health management within the sub-region.
