Police Arrest Four Suspected Armed Robbers in Oyo Hideout Raid

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers and cultists during a raid on a criminal hideout in the Soka area of Oluyole Local Government Area of Ibadan.

The suspects were apprehended with a locally made pistol following an intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the command’s Violent Crime Response Unit.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the arrest was made after credible intelligence indicated that members of a notorious criminal syndicate were preparing for another operation in the area.

Ayanlade disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan on Friday, noting that security operatives acted swiftly to prevent what could have been a violent incident.

“On Friday, June 10, 2026, at approximately 6am, operatives of the command’s Violent Crime Response Unit, acting on credible intelligence, received information that members of a notorious criminal syndicate known for terrorising residents at various locations within the Ibadan metropolis were operating in the area,” he said.

He added that the suspects were intercepted at their hideout before they could carry out any planned attack.

The arrested individuals were identified as Salawu Sarafa, also known as Folori; Yusuf Tajudeen, known as Blacky; Farouq Ariyo; and Adebayo Awosemo, also called Naira.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are alleged members of the Eiye Supremo Confraternity, a cult group linked to violent crimes in parts of Ibadan.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspects confessed during interrogation to their involvement in several criminal activities across the Ibadan metropolis and surrounding communities.

“They admitted their involvement in a series of violent criminal activities within the Ibadan metropolis and its environs,” Ayanlade stated.

The police command further confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the gang who are currently on the run.

Ayanlade said the investigation would be expanded to uncover the full structure of the criminal network and identify additional accomplices connected to the group’s activities.

The command also assured residents of its commitment to maintaining law and order and intensifying intelligence-led policing to curb violent crime in Oyo State.

Authorities urged members of the public to continue providing useful information that could assist in ongoing security operations across the state.
