Police Apprehend 25 Suspects, Seize Mass Quantities of Cannabis, Contraband Pharmaceuticals in Jos Sweep
Police operatives in Plateau State successfully launched a massive raid on criminal enclaves in Jos, apprehending 25 suspects linked to regional crime networks.
The Plateau State Police Command has executed a high-impact tactical raid across known criminal hideouts within the Jos metropolis, resulting in the arrest of twenty-five suspected criminals. The coordinated enforcement operation also yielded a significant haul of illicit substances, including large sacks of Indian hemp (cannabis) and highly restricted, non-prescriptive controlled drugs, dealing a major blow to localized distribution networks.
Acting on a series of verified intelligence reports tracking the rise of petty crime, cult activity, and open-air drug markets, specialized police tactical units blanketed identified flashpoints in a synchronized late-night sweep.
The Command's Public Relations Officer confirmed that the tactical teams systematically cordoned off and searched several structures operating as distribution hubs for illicit substances.
The division emphasized that the crackdown is part of an ongoing, broader security initiative designed to proactively sanitize the state capital of criminal elements whose illicit trade directly fuels violent crimes, burglaries, and gang clashes in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Team leaders reported the recovery of multiple compressed bags of high-grade cannabis alongside assorted packs of illicitly sourced tramadol and other prohibited synthetic downers.
Beyond the drug haul, officers uncovered several concealed weapons, including locally fabricated sharp objects, daggers, and assault implements used by the suspects during street-level robberies.
All twenty-five individuals are currently being held in secure custody at the state headquarters. Investigators are conducting detailed background profiling to map their syndicates, after which the suspects will face formal arraignment in a court of competent jurisdiction.
