Anthony Joshua Sends Message Ahead of Potential Tyson Fury Showdown
Anthony Joshua says his focus is on winning his next fight against Kristian Prenga, insisting he is not distracted by talk of a potential Tyson Fury showdown later this year.
Former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has declared that “pleasure comes after victory” as he focuses on his return to the ring, with a blockbuster fight against Tyson Fury increasingly expected later this year.
Joshua made the remarks while discussing his comeback plans, stressing that his priority remains winning his upcoming bout against Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga before turning his attention to any future showdown. He said his focus is firmly on preparation and performance rather than the hype surrounding a potential clash with Fury.
The two-time world champion is scheduled to return to action on July 25, marking his first fight since an extended period away from the sport. The contest is widely viewed as a stepping stone toward a long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown with Fury later in 2026.
Joshua insisted he feels mentally and physically strong ahead of his comeback, adding that success in the ring remains his primary objective. His comments reflect a determination to avoid distractions despite growing excitement among boxing fans over a potential meeting with Fury.
Meanwhile, Fury is also expected to take part in a warm-up fight before any proposed showdown, with both camps keen to ensure their fighters remain active ahead of what could become one of the biggest bouts in British boxing history.
A Joshua–Fury fight has been discussed for years without materialising, but recent developments suggest negotiations have progressed significantly, raising hopes that fans may finally see the heavyweight rivals meet in the ring before the end of the year.
