Kidnappers Murder Pregnant Captive, Slay Courier Delivering Ransom
Armed kidnappers in Oyo State executed a tragic dual killing, murdering a heavily pregnant woman they held hostage along with the ransom bearer sent to free her.
A horrifying escalation of banditry in Oyo State has left a local community in deep mourning after a gang of armed terrorists brutally murdered a heavily pregnant captive and the family representative sent into the wilderness to deliver her ransom payment. The dual killings underscore the increasing lawlessness and severe security deficits plaguing rural agrarian corridors in the southwestern state, sparking widespread public condemnation.
The pregnant victim had been violently seized from her home during a targeted night-time raid several days prior. The criminal syndicate subsequently contacted her family, demanding an exorbitant cash payment to secure her release.
Desperate to save her life and that of her unborn child, the family quickly gathered the requested funds and dispatched a trusted relative into a designated forest enclave to complete the drop-off.
However, the rescue mission turned catastrophic. Investigative sources reveal that after pocketing the ransom money, the terrorists turned on the courier, killing him instantly on the spot.
In a further act of senseless cruelty, the bandits then executed the pregnant woman before abandoning both bodies in the dense underbrush and fleeing deeper into the forest boundary.
The grim discovery of the remains was made by a localized search party composed of community youth and regional hunters who had tracked the ransom bearer’s route.
The Oyo State Police Command has officially acknowledged the horrific incident, stating that specialized anti-kidnapping squads and tactical operatives have been deployed to the area to hunt down the perpetrators, disrupt the forest camp, and prevent further incursions into vulnerable farming communities.
