NYSC Suspends 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course in Niger State
The National Youth Service Corps has suspended the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation exercise in Niger State due to ongoing camp renovations, assuring affected corps members of fresh arrangements.
The National Youth Service Corps has announced the suspension of the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course for prospective corps members posted to Niger State.
The scheme disclosed the development in a notice shared on its official X handle on Sunday, citing ongoing renovation works at the state orientation camp as the reason for the suspension.
According to the statement, all prospective corps members deployed to Niger State for the orientation programme should await further instructions from the management regarding new arrangements.
“This is to notify the General Public and Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) deployed to Niger State for the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course that their Orientation Course Exercise is suspended for now due to ongoing renovation work at the Orientation Camp,” the statement read.
The scheme further assured affected corps members that they would be informed at short notice about where and when to report for the orientation exercise once alternative arrangements are concluded.
“PCMs affected should note that they will be contacted at a short notice on where and when to report for their Orientation Course.
“The Management regrets all inconveniences to the affected PCMs and their parents,” the statement added.
The development comes months after severe infrastructure damage was recorded at the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko, located in Paikoro Local Government Area.
Earlier in 2026, a windstorm reportedly damaged several facilities within the camp, including male hostels, staff quarters, the kitchen and the multipurpose hall, prompting the state government to initiate rehabilitation works.
Following the incident, Mohammed Bago directed immediate repairs and renovation of the affected structures to ensure the safety and comfort of corps members and officials.
The suspension is not the first of its kind in recent months, as similar disruptions linked to camp renovation and infrastructure upgrades were also recorded in Enugu State and Osun State earlier this year.
The 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation programme officially commenced nationwide on June 10 and was originally scheduled to end on June 30, 2026.
NYSC said affected corps members would receive updates on revised arrangements in due course.
