MLS: Super Eagles Midfielder Alhassan Yusuf Named Player of the Week

Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has been named Major League Soccer (MLS) Player of the Week following his outstanding performance for New England Revolution.

Yusuf scored a hat-trick in New England Revolution’s emphatic 3-0 victory over D.C. United on Wednesday, helping the club end a three-game winless run.

The Nigeria international opened his account in the first half, scoring twice to give the Revolution a commanding advantage before completing his hat-trick six minutes after the hour mark.

The impressive display further underlined Yusuf’s growing influence in the MLS since joining New England Revolution.

The midfielder has now recorded five goals and two assists in 20 league appearances for the club this season.

His latest performance earned him the MLS Player of the Week award and highlighted his attacking contribution from midfield.

New England Revolution currently sit fourth in the Eastern Conference with 33 points from 20 matches.

The club will look to build on their victory when they host New York City FC at Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, on Sunday.

Yusuf’s form will also be encouraging for Nigeria as the Super Eagles continue preparations for upcoming international engagements.
