‘I Won, Beat You Guys’ — Davido Tells Wike in Playful Exchange

Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has engaged in a playful exchange with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following the outcome of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Davido made the remarks during a visit by his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, to Wike in Abuja on Thursday.

In the light-hearted exchange, Davido repeatedly told Wike, “I won. I beat you guys,” while the FCT Minister disputed the claim.

Wike, who appeared amused by the remark, responded, “No, no,” prompting Davido to insist that he had defeated the minister’s side.

“You beat us?” Wike asked.

“I beat you,” Davido replied, maintaining his playful claim.

The exchange attracted laughter from those present, with background voices urging them to continue the banter.

The moment ended warmly as Davido prostrated before Wike and subsequently embraced him, drawing applause and laughter from people in the room.

The encounter has attracted attention because of the political outcome in Osun State, where Governor Ademola Adeleke secured re-election in the August 15 governorship election.

Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, defeated his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

The election had generated significant political interest, with several prominent political figures campaigning for different candidates.

Wike had previously made comments about the Osun election, including stating that he could have helped the APC secure victory in the state if President Bola Tinubu had asked him to intervene.

Following Adeleke’s victory, political exchanges between supporters of the different camps have continued to attract public attention.

Davido, who openly supported his uncle during the election, has remained vocal about the outcome, while Adeleke has also visited key political figures in Abuja since his re-election.

The visit to Wike came after Adeleke met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Despite the political undertones surrounding the exchange, the interaction between Davido and Wike appeared cordial, with both men laughing and exchanging pleasantries.

The moment has since generated reactions among Nigerians, particularly against the backdrop of the intense political contest that preceded the Osun election.
