ICPC Begins Inspection of N2.06bn Constituency Projects in Bauchi
ICPC begins inspection of 29 constituency projects worth N2.06bn in Bauchi to verify execution, spending and compliance with specifications.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced the inspection of constituency projects worth over N2.06 billion across Bauchi State as part of efforts to prevent the misuse of public funds.
The commission said 29 projects, with a combined value of N2,062,155,613.98, are being inspected under its Constituency Projects Tracking Group exercise.
The monitoring exercise, which commenced on August 17, 2026, is being conducted by officials from the ICPC headquarters in Abuja and its Bauchi office.
The inspection is aimed at determining whether the projects funded through constituency allocations are being executed according to approved specifications and whether the funds released correspond with the work completed at the various project sites.
The team is also expected to identify projects that may have been poorly executed, abandoned or left incomplete despite the release of public funds.
Speaking on the exercise, the team leader, Assistant Chief Superintendent Mohammed Abdullahi Tanko, said the initiative was part of the commission’s nationwide efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the implementation of government-funded projects.
Tanko explained that the ICPC was particularly concerned about projects for which public funds had been released but which failed to deliver the intended benefits to communities.
The commission’s constituency projects tracking exercise is designed to verify the actual status of government-funded projects at the grassroots and ensure that public resources are used for their intended purposes.
The Bauchi inspection comes amid broader efforts by anti-corruption authorities to strengthen monitoring of constituency projects and ensure that lawmakers’ interventions translate into tangible infrastructure and services for their constituents.
The ICPC is expected to document its findings from the inspection and take appropriate action where irregularities or violations are established.
