NiDCOM Congratulates ‘London Bus Aunty’ as Bus Stop Is Named in Her Honour
NiDCOM celebrates Nigerian-born ‘London Bus Aunty’ Bemi Orojuogun as London honours her with a named bus stop.
The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Nigerian-born nurse and social media personality, Bemi Orojuogun, popularly known as “London Bus Aunty,” on the honour of having a London bus stop named after her.
Dabiri-Erewa described the recognition as a remarkable achievement and a source of pride to Nigeria and Nigerians in the diaspora.
She said Orojuogun’s journey demonstrates how passion, authenticity and positive representation of one’s heritage can create an impact beyond the shores of Nigeria.
Orojuogun gained widespread recognition through her engaging social media videos featuring London’s iconic red buses. Through her platform, she showcases everyday life in the city while connecting with audiences through her distinctive personality and passion for London’s transport system.
The NiDCOM Chairman commended Orojuogun for bringing joy to many people through her content and for positively representing Nigerians in the United Kingdom.
Dabiri-Erewa also applauded Transport for London (TfL) for recognising Orojuogun’s contribution and celebrating her connection with the city’s transport community.
She noted that the honour further highlights the valuable contributions Nigerians continue to make in various fields and communities around the world.
Dabiri-Erewa encouraged Orojuogun to regard the recognition as an inspiration to continue using her platform positively.
She assured Nigerians in the diaspora that their achievements and contributions remain a source of pride to the nation.
While wishing Orojuogun continued success, the NiDCOM boss described the recognition as well deserved.
