CISLAC/TI Demands Probe Of Alleged Security Fund Diversion In Kogi
CISLAC has called for an investigation into alleged diversion of over ₦36.9 billion from Kogi security accounts, citing financial intelligence reports and demanding transparency, accountability and possible prosecution.
The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, Nigeria’s chapter of Transparency International, has called for an immediate investigation into alleged diversion of public funds linked to security-related accounts in Kogi State.
The anti-corruption organisation cited financial intelligence findings suggesting that more than ₦36.9 billion may have been misappropriated through transactions involving the Kogi State Security Operation Account.
In a statement, Executive Director of CISLAC and Head of Transparency International Nigeria, Auwal Ibrahim Musa, said the account reportedly received over ₦36.9 billion within a nine-month period from the Kogi State Government SRA.
According to him, about ₦23.7 billion of the funds was allegedly transferred to Real Striker Finance Limited, a finance company reportedly owned by Ameh Joseph Erico.
CISLAC expressed concern over the scale of the alleged transactions and urged relevant anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough, transparent and independent investigation into the matter.
The organisation said public funds allocated for security purposes must be properly accounted for, especially at a time when many parts of the country continue to face serious security challenges.
It stressed that accountability and transparency in the management of public resources are essential for strengthening public trust and ensuring effective governance.
CISLAC also urged authorities to make the findings of any investigation public and prosecute anyone found culpable in accordance with the law.
The group maintained that allegations involving such significant sums should be treated with urgency to safeguard public resources and reinforce Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts.
