2027: NDC Is A Political Trap, Has No Future — Primate Ayodele
Primate Elijah Ayodele has described the National Democratic Congress as a political trap with no future, warning politicians against joining the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Ayodele, has described the National Democratic Congress as a political trap with no long-term future, warning politicians against placing their hopes in the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ayodele made the remarks in a statement issued on Tuesday through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin.
According to the cleric, the NDC was created for a specific purpose and lacks the structure, seriousness and political strength required to emerge as a major force in Nigeria’s political landscape.
He argued that politicians who have joined the party may eventually regret their decision, claiming that the platform was designed to attract and use politicians without offering them a viable political future.
“NDC as a party can’t really go far; it’s a party of political errand boys. It’s not a serious political party, and people who have rushed themselves there will eventually regret it,” Ayodele said.
The cleric further described the party as a political arrangement established to capture politicians, insisting that it would not endure for long.
“The party is a political set-up programmed to capture politicians. NDC won’t last long; it’s a party that has no political future. I pity those who have pitched their tents in the party; it’s a trap,” he added.
Despite his criticism of the NDC, Ayodele maintained that opposition parties still have a chance of challenging the ruling party if they are able to unite under a common platform and present a strong, coordinated front ahead of the next election cycle.
He noted that political fragmentation among opposition groups remains one of the biggest obstacles to their chances of unseating the government.
His comments come amid ongoing political realignments and coalition talks among opposition figures as preparations gradually gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.
The NDC has recently attracted attention following efforts by some politicians to position it as an alternative platform in the evolving political landscape.
