120 Secure First-Class Honours as University of Port Harcourt Graduates Over 8,000 Students
The University of Port Harcourt (University of Port Harcourt) will award first-class honours to 120 students out of 8,156 graduating this session.
The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) in Rivers State is set to award first-class degrees to 120 students during its upcoming convocation ceremony, where a total of 8,156 graduates will be officially sent forth.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Owunari Georgewill, disclosed this during a pre-convocation press briefing held at the university campus, where he outlined the milestones recorded by the institution over the past academic session.
Providing a breakdown of the graduation statistics, the Vice-Chancellor revealed that out of the total graduating class, a significant portion demonstrated outstanding academic brilliance across various faculties. Beyond the 120 first-class achievers, thousands of other undergraduate and postgraduate students successfully completed their respective courses of study.
Georgewill emphasized that the university has maintained its stringent academic standards and rigorous examination processes, ensuring that the degrees awarded are a true reflection of hard work, discipline, and scholarly merit.
"Our commitment to producing graduates who can compete effectively on a global scale remains unwavering," the Vice-Chancellor stated. "The impressive performance of these students, particularly those who earned the highest honours, is a testament to the dedication of our teaching staff and the resilient spirit of our student body."
The briefing also highlighted several infrastructural developments and research breakthroughs achieved by the institution recently. Georgewill noted that despite various macro-economic challenges affecting higher education across the country, UNIPORT has continued to prioritize stable academic calendars and digital integration in its lecture delivery.
The convocation events, which will feature the conferment of first degrees, higher degrees, diplomas, and honorary doctorates to deserving global icons, are scheduled to draw prominent stakeholders, educationists, and government representatives to the university community over the weekend.
