World Cup: Portugal vs Colombia Ticket Demand Tops Five Million in 24 Hours
Portugal’s World Cup clash with Colombia has become the tournament’s hottest ticket, attracting over five million requests within 24 hours as resale prices surged beyond $7,000.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup Group K clash between Portugal and Colombia has emerged as the most sought-after group-stage fixture of the tournament, attracting more than five million ticket requests within the first 24 hours of sales.
According to reports by TNT Sports and The Athletic, the high-profile encounter, scheduled for Saturday evening at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, has generated unprecedented global interest.
The overwhelming demand has also driven resale prices to extraordinary levels, with premium tickets reportedly selling for more than $7,000, surpassing the average entry prices for major sporting events such as the Super Bowl.
TNT Sports described the match as “the most in-demand group stage match at the World Cup,” noting that ticket demand has continued to soar as the fixture approaches.
The Athletic, in a report published by The New York Times, confirmed that Portugal versus Colombia had become the most requested ticket among all 72 group-stage matches.
The report also revealed that Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez had anticipated the massive demand months earlier.
“Well, it means I had to buy tickets for my family in November. That’s what it means,” Martinez said during his pre-match press conference.
“Because I knew it was going to be difficult to get tickets.”
The match is expected to determine the final Group K standings heading into the Round of 32.
Portugal, led by veteran captain Cristiano Ronaldo, enter the contest with four points from two matches, including an emphatic 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan in which Ronaldo scored twice.
Colombia, meanwhile, have enjoyed a perfect campaign so far and sit at the top of the group with maximum points from their opening two fixtures.
The meeting has generated enormous excitement because it brings together two football powerhouses boasting world-class talent, including Ronaldo and Colombia winger Luis Díaz.
Its location in Miami, home to large Portuguese and Colombian communities, has also contributed to the exceptional ticket demand.
The secondary ticket market has reflected the frenzy, with some fans offering tickets on social media for between $470 and $600, while premium seats continue to command prices exceeding $7,000.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, corresponding to 12:30 a.m. Nigerian time on Sunday, with the winner expected to secure top spot in Group K ahead of the knockout stage.
