Tinubu’s Daughter Threatens Protest Over Lagos APC Primaries

The Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, on Wednesday threatened a protest over the outcome of the recently concluded All Progressives Congress primaries in Lagos State, alleging that the process was manipulated in favour of the party’s Justice Forum bloc.

Tinubu-Ojo made the remarks during the weekly meeting of market leaders and stakeholders held at her office in Alausa, Ikeja, where she expressed dissatisfaction with the results released by the Lagos APC leadership.

She specifically alleged irregularities in the primaries conducted for Mushin Federal Constituency 2, Agege Constituency 2 and Ojokoro constituencies, insisting that the published outcomes did not reflect the actual results of the exercise.

The Lagos State chapter of the APC had earlier released the list of candidates who emerged from its House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The list, signed by Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi, showed that 24 candidates secured tickets for the House of Representatives, while 40 candidates emerged for the Lagos State House of Assembly elections.

Candidates announced for the Assembly seats included Mojisola Meranda for Apapa I, Musibau Lawal for Apapa II, Barakat Bakare-Odunuga for Surulere I and Damilola Ayinde-Marshal for Surulere II, among others.

Tinubu-Ojo called on APC leaders at both the state and national levels to urgently investigate the disputed results before final ratification, warning that failure to address the grievances could worsen internal divisions within the ruling party.

“We are ready to protest because of Seye Oladejo of Mushin Federal Constituency 02, Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo of Agege 2 constituency, Olotu Ojo of Ojokoro constituency, because we know they won this election,” she said.

She further alleged that the APC’s internal structures were increasingly being influenced by factional politics between the Justice Forum and Mandate Group, especially because Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, is believed to be aligned with the Justice Forum.

Tinubu-Ojo urged party members to prioritise unity, insisting that all APC members in Lagos should be treated fairly regardless of factional affiliation.

She also reaffirmed the commitment of market women across Lagos to support the governorship ambition of Obafemi Hamzat and other APC candidates while demanding greater political inclusion and recognition for traders in the state.
