Tinubu Congratulates Gombe Girl on Winning Qur’anic Competition in Saudi Arabia
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Maryam Ibrahim Dan’Azumi of Gombe State for winning the women’s category of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’anic Competition in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. She defeated competitors from 132 countries and won a prize of 300,000 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to about ₦120 million.
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Maryam Ibrahim Dan’Azumi of Gombe State for emerging winner in the women’s category of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’anic Competition in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Dan’Azumi defeated competitors from 132 countries to win the competition and a prize of 300,000 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to about ₦120 million.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended Dan’Azumi for her exceptional performance and mastery of the Holy Qur’an.
The President described her victory as a personal triumph and a source of national pride that had placed Nigeria prominently on the global stage.
He noted that her achievement followed a similar feat by her elder sister, Hajara Ibrahim Dan Azumi, who won first place in a comparable Qur’anic competition in Jordan in 2024.
Tinubu also commended the sisters’ parents, teachers and mentors for the sacrifices and dedication that contributed to their achievements.
He praised the organisers and the Saudi Arabian authorities for providing an international platform that promotes excellence in Qur’anic memorisation, recitation, understanding and scholarship.
The President said Dan’Azumi’s victory demonstrated the discipline, dedication and intellectual capacity of Nigerian youths.
He congratulated her on behalf of the Federal Government and Nigerians, praying that she would continue to grow in knowledge and wisdom.
Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote the intellectual, moral and spiritual development of young Nigerians.
