Soldiers Kill Boko Haram Fighter, Foil Levy Collection in Yobe

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed a Boko Haram fighter and disrupted an attempt by terrorists to collect illegal levies from residents in Yobe State during a clearance operation in the state's insurgency-prone communities. The operation formed part of ongoing military efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore security in the North-East.

According to military sources, the troops engaged the insurgents after receiving intelligence on their activities. During the operation, one terrorist was neutralised, while others fled the area under sustained military pressure. The soldiers also prevented the insurgents from collecting money and food items they had allegedly demanded from local residents as illegal taxes.

The military said the successful operation disrupted the terrorists' logistics and financial support network, while reassuring residents of its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). Troops have continued to intensify patrols and clearance missions across the North-East to deny insurgents freedom of movement.

Residents were urged to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious movements, as the military works to eliminate the remaining terrorist threats in the region. Authorities also reaffirmed their resolve to protect lives and property while restoring lasting peace to affected communities.
