Radda Warns Against Diversion Of FG's 100,800 Bags Of Fertiliser For North-West Farmers
Katsina Governor Dikko Radda has warned against the diversion of 100,800 bags of fertiliser provided by the Federal Government for North-West farmers, vowing that anyone caught diverting the agricultural input will face severe consequences.
Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, has issued a strong warning against the diversion of 100,800 bags of fertiliser provided by the Federal Government for farmers in the North-West region.
The governor cautioned all those involved in the distribution of the fertiliser to desist from any act of diversion or sabotage, stressing that the agricultural input must reach the intended beneficiaries ,the farmers.
Radda emphasised that the fertiliser, which forms part of the Federal Government's intervention to boost agricultural production and food security in the region, must be distributed transparently and equitably to genuine farmers.
The governor warned that anyone caught diverting or mismanaging the fertiliser would face severe consequences, stressing that the state would not condone any act capable of undermining the success of the intervention.
He underscored the importance of the agricultural input to the farmers, noting that it would significantly enhance their productivity, boost food production, and contribute to addressing food insecurity in the region.
Radda reaffirmed his administration's commitment to supporting farmers and improving agricultural productivity in the state, describing agriculture as a key driver of the state's economy and a major source of livelihood for the people.
The governor called on relevant officials and stakeholders involved in the distribution process to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability, so that the fertiliser would reach the real farmers who need it most.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the fertiliser to maximise its impact on their farming activities and overall agricultural output.
The distribution of the fertiliser is part of the broader efforts by the Federal Government to support farmers, enhance food production, and strengthen food security across the country, particularly in the agrarian North-West region.
The North-West, known as one of Nigeria's major food-producing regions, has continued to play a vital role in the nation's agricultural output despite the security challenges affecting farming activities in some areas.
Radda's warning underscores the importance of ensuring that government interventions and agricultural support programmes achieve their intended objectives without being undermined by corruption or mismanagement.
The governor expressed optimism that the fertiliser intervention would go a long way in boosting agricultural production and improving the livelihoods of farmers in the state and the wider region.
He reiterated his administration's resolve to prioritise agriculture, support farmers, and implement policies aimed at achieving food security and economic prosperity for the people of Katsina State.
