PDP to Aiyedatiwa: Publish Full Details of Approved Projects, Not Just Headlines
Ondo PDP has urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to disclose full details of approved projects, including costs, timelines, and funding sources, insisting governance should be judged by delivery, not announcements.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to provide full transparency on all approved state projects, including timelines, funding arrangements, procurement details, and implementation milestones.
In a statement issued in Akure by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Jolade Aladetan, the PDP was responding to the state government’s approval for the construction of a 2.38-kilometre flyover in the state capital.
The opposition party said while project announcements are often met with public excitement, there is a recurring pattern of grand declarations that do not always translate into measurable outcomes for citizens.
It questioned the lack of detailed information surrounding major infrastructure projects, including total costs, funding sources, and completion timelines.
The PDP also asked whether the administration had conducted a proper assessment of competing infrastructure needs across the state before approving new projects.
According to the party, residents continue to face deteriorating roads, inadequate healthcare services, insecurity, unemployment, and rising poverty, making accountability in governance more critical.
The statement further criticised the proposed conversion of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, into a University of Agricultural Science and Technology, urging the government to clarify how it plans to fund and sustain additional tertiary institutions amid existing challenges in the education sector.
On the rehabilitation of the Owena Dam, the party said residents are more interested in access to clean water than in repeated government announcements about development plans.
It maintained that governance should be assessed based on completed projects and improved living conditions rather than the number of Executive Council approvals.
The PDP concluded by reiterating its call for transparency, urging the Aiyedatiwa administration to publish detailed project documentation for public scrutiny, stressing that accountability is essential for effective governance.
The party said it remains committed to constructive opposition and continued monitoring of government performance in the state.
