The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of running the country with “alarming recklessness,” citing worsening economic hardship, rising insecurity, and poor policy coordination.

In a statement on Saturday, the PDP described the current style of governance as disconnected from the realities of ordinary Nigerians, claiming that key decisions are being taken without proper consultation or consideration of their long-term impact on citizens.

The opposition party specifically criticised what it called the “imperial” influence of the Chief of Staff’s office, alleging that critical national issues are being managed with limited input from relevant ministries and stakeholders.

The PDP argued that the administration’s approach to economic reforms, security management, and fiscal policy has led to increased poverty, inflation, and loss of public confidence in government institutions.

It urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rein in what it described as “unbridled recklessness” in policy implementation and to ensure that governance is conducted with greater transparency, accountability, and sensitivity to the suffering of Nigerians.

The statement added that the APC government’s continued reliance on borrowing, coupled with what the PDP called “poorly thought-out reforms,” has pushed the country deeper into economic distress.

As of the time of this report, neither the Presidency nor the Chief of Staff’s office had issued an official response to the PDP’s allegations.

The latest attack is part of the escalating political rhetoric between the ruling party and the opposition as the country gradually moves toward the 2027 general elections.
