Pastor Urges Dolapo Lawal to Study Scripture Over Salvation Teaching
Apostle Harrison Ayintete has criticised Pastor Adedolapo Lawal's teaching on salvation, defending the "once saved, always saved" doctrine and calling for a public debate on the biblical interpretation of eternal security.
The lead pastor of Goodness Nation, Apostle Harrison Ayintete, has criticised Pastor Adedolapo Lawal of Zoe Household Global over his recent teaching on the doctrine of salvation, urging him to study the Bible more carefully before addressing the subject publicly.
The disagreement followed a sermon by Lawal in which he rejected the "once saved, always saved" doctrine, arguing that believers must continue in faith, repentance and holy living. He maintained that while salvation comes through faith in Christ, the New Testament contains repeated warnings against falling away from the faith.
Responding in a post on X, Ayintete disagreed with Lawal's interpretation, insisting that those who have received eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ cannot lose their salvation. He argued that biblical passages such as John 3:16 and John 10 affirm the permanence of salvation for genuine believers.
Ayintete further contended that the New Testament epistles were written to promote spiritual growth and maturity rather than to determine whether Christians remained saved. He also dismissed claims that the "hyper-grace" message encourages sinful living, maintaining that believers overcome sin through the work of the Holy Spirit rather than fear of losing their salvation.
The cleric challenged Lawal to a public theological debate on the subject, saying the issue should be openly discussed for the benefit of Christians seeking a clearer understanding of biblical teaching on salvation.
