Nigerian Air Force Deploys 111 Elite Special Forces Operators to Neutralize Evolving National Security Threats

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has officially graduated 111 elite personnel from its specialized Special Forces Course 13/2026. Held at the Regiment Training Centre Annex (RTCA) in Bauchi State, the graduation ceremony marks a strategic expansion of the military's asymmetric warfare capabilities, introducing a highly trained, mission-ready cohort designed to reinforce joint military theater operations across the federation.

According to an official directive published by the NAF command on Sunday, the rigorous training curriculum was structured to equip the operators with the advanced combat tactics, surveillance skills, and psychological endurance needed to dominate high-risk operational environments.

The final phase of the course subjected the personnel to extreme physical and psychological evaluations, ensuring only the most resilient operators secured the elite certification:

  • The Command Charge: Representing the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, the Chief of Training at Headquarters NAF, Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Dari, congratulated the graduates while stressing that the true deterrence of a military unit lies within the character and focus of its personnel. Aneke's message warned criminal networks that the state will deny them safe haven, stating that those who terrorize communities will face decisive, unwavering military pressure.
  • Operational Showcases: Demonstrating their newly acquired readiness, the graduating operatives performed a series of live tactical simulations for visiting dignitaries. The exercises featured advanced air assault insertions, commando close-quarters self-defense drills, and synchronized obstacle-clearing maneuvers.
  • Sustaining Elite Benchmarks: The Commandant of the RTCA in Bauchi, Squadron Leader E.L. Akpan, reaffirmed the institution's commitment to maintaining uncompromising physical and technical standards, highlighting that the curriculum continuously evolves to match contemporary unconventional threats like cross-border banditry and urban kidnapping syndicates.

The graduation event drew top military leadership to Bauchi, including the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Air Vice Marshal A.G. Kehinde, and senior commanders from the Special Operations Command, who immediately initiated integration protocols to deploy the new operators into active internal security theaters.
