Unknown gunmen have murdered a retired staff member of Ogun State Television (OGTV), Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” and her security guard at her residence in Ogun State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at the deceased’s home in the Kobape area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Oyesiku, who was well known in media circles, had served with OGTV before retiring from active service. Her death has sparked concerns among residents and members of the media community.

The assailants reportedly invaded the residence and carried out the attack before leaving the premises.

The body of the security guard was discovered inside the security post, while Oyesiku’s body was found inside her apartment during a search of the property.

The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that it had commenced a comprehensive investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said detectives were immediately deployed to the scene after the incident was reported.

According to him, the matter was reported at the Owode-Egba Division on Sunday, June 21, 2026, by a resident of Iyana Agodo Village who raised the alarm over suspicious activities at the residence.

Babaseyi explained that preliminary assessment by investigators revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance within the premises.

He added that the deceased’s vehicle was also discovered missing from the residence, raising further questions about the motive behind the attack.

“The Ogun State Police Command has commenced a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of renowned broadcaster and retired Ogun State Television personality, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard,” he said.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and directed security operatives to ensure that those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.

The police said surveillance and intelligence-led operations had been expanded across relevant locations as part of efforts to track down the perpetrators.

The command also appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant and provide useful information that could assist the investigation.

It commiserated with the family of the deceased, the OGTV community, the media industry and all those affected by the tragic incident, assuring that no effort would be spared in ensuring justice is served.
