NDLEA Seizes 12,724kg of Illicit Drugs, Arrests 1,107 Suspects in Kaduna
The NDLEA Kaduna Command says it seized more than 12.7 tonnes of illicit drugs and arrested 1,107 suspects over the past year. The agency also secured 251 convictions, dismantled 662 drug joints, and expanded rehabilitation and anti-drug awareness programmes across the state.
The Kaduna State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it seized 12,724.652 kilogrammes of illicit drugs and psychotropic substances while arresting 1,107 suspects during operations conducted between June 2025 and June 2026.
The State Commander, CN Maijama'a Muhammad, disclosed the figures during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna. He said the command's sustained intelligence-led operations, surveillance and enforcement activities had significantly disrupted drug trafficking networks across the state.
According to Muhammad, the seized drugs included 9,091.974kg of cannabis sativa, 0.004kg of heroin, 0.315kg of cocaine, 2.949kg of methamphetamine, 301.852kg of tramadol and 3,345.558kg of other psychotropic substances. Of the 1,107 suspects arrested, 1,075 were male while 32 were female.
He further revealed that 297 suspects were charged to court, leading to 251 convictions during the review period. In addition, the command admitted 94 people into its treatment and rehabilitation programme, successfully rehabilitated 78 individuals, and provided brief interventions to 1,458 others battling substance abuse.
The commander added that the agency dismantled 662 drug joints across Kaduna through coordinated enforcement efforts and intensified public awareness campaigns targeting schools, religious organisations, youth groups and local communities. He urged parents, community leaders and other stakeholders to continue supporting the fight against drug abuse, stressing that preventing illicit drug trafficking requires collective action.
