LASTMA Unveils 3367 Toll-Free Short Code for Easy Public Access
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has unveiled a new toll-free short code, "3367," to provide residents with quick and easy access to its services, distress reports, and traffic updates.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has launched a new toll-free short code, "3367," to enable Lagos residents to easily reach the agency for traffic-related complaints, distress calls, and other urgent reports without incurring telephone charges.
The new short code, which can be dialled by anyone within the state, is part of LASTMA's renewed commitment to providing efficient, accessible, and citizen-friendly services in line with the broader vision of the Lagos State Government for a smart and well-organised city.
The General Manager of LASTMA reportedly disclosed that the toll-free number was introduced to bridge the communication gap between the agency and the public, ensuring that motorists and other road users can promptly report incidents, seek assistance, and receive real-time updates about traffic conditions.
According to the agency, the short code is fully integrated into LASTMA's central command and operational systems, allowing for rapid response to distress calls, accidents, traffic gridlocks, broken-down vehicles, and other situations that require immediate intervention by traffic officers.
LASTMA noted that the introduction of the toll-free short code reflects the agency's adoption of modern technology and innovative communication tools to enhance public service delivery and improve the overall traffic management ecosystem in Lagos State.
The authority urged residents, motorists, transporters, and visitors to the state to make use of the short code whenever they require assistance, want to make reports about traffic incidents, or seek guidance on issues relating to LASTMA's operations.
LASTMA also called on the public to use the short code responsibly, stressing that prank calls, false alarms, and the misuse of the platform could undermine the agency's ability to respond effectively to genuine emergencies and reports.
The agency assured residents of prompt response to distress calls, complaints, and reports made through the new toll-free line, noting that dedicated personnel had been deployed to manage the communication channel round the clock.
It explained that the toll-free short code would also serve as a platform for the public to obtain useful information about traffic regulations, road safety tips, and updates on major road repairs, diversions, and other developments that could affect movement across the state.
The Lagos State Government has consistently emphasised its commitment to deploying technology and innovation to address the city's growing traffic management challenges, which have remained a major concern given the state's status as one of Africa's most densely populated and economically vibrant cities.
In recent years, the state government, through LASTMA and other relevant agencies, has rolled out various initiatives aimed at improving traffic flow, addressing road infrastructure deficits, deploying intelligent transport systems, and ensuring the safety and welfare of road users.
The introduction of the toll-free short code complements these efforts, providing an additional layer of public engagement and citizen participation in the management of the state's traffic system.
LASTMA reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, integrity, and accountability in carrying out its statutory responsibilities, urging members of the public to support the agency's operations through cooperation, compliance with traffic regulations, and respect for the work of its officers.
The agency also called on the public to report any incidents of misconduct, abuse, or unprofessional behaviour by its officers, stressing that such reports would be promptly investigated and decisively addressed in line with the agency's code of conduct.
LASTMA further appealed to motorists and other road users to embrace good road manners, obey traffic signs and signals, and avoid actions capable of disrupting traffic flow or endangering the lives of other road users.
The agency reminded the public that traffic management is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of government, road users, vehicle owners, transporters, and other stakeholders working together to ensure a smooth and safe transport system.
The introduction of the toll-free short code is also expected to strengthen the agency's overall service delivery, foster public trust, and improve the effectiveness of its operations across the state.
The development comes amid renewed efforts by the Lagos State Government to address traffic congestion, expand road infrastructure, deploy alternative transportation systems, and improve overall mobility across the city.
The Lagos State Government has previously rolled out other transportation initiatives, including the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) scheme, the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) project, and various road expansion and rehabilitation programmes, all aimed at addressing the city's mobility challenges.
The deployment of digital tools, such as the new LASTMA toll-free short code, complements these projects and reflects the state government's broader vision of leveraging technology to deliver responsive, citizen-focused services.
LASTMA expressed confidence that the new short code would significantly improve public engagement, enhance the agency's response capabilities, and contribute to a safer, more orderly, and more efficient road network in Lagos State.
