Kidnapped School Children: ‘Politicians Behind Abduction’ — Pastor Ibiyeomie Queries DSS
Pastor David Ibiyeomie has alleged that politicians may be sponsoring schoolchildren abductions across Nigeria, questioning why security agencies have been unable to identify, track and arrest perpetrators.
Founder of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has alleged that some politicians may be behind the recent wave of schoolchildren abductions recorded in different parts of Nigeria.
The cleric made the claim while reacting to the growing insecurity affecting schools and communities across the country. His comments come amid recent incidents of kidnappings involving schoolchildren and teachers in states including Sokoto State and Oyo State.
Ibiyeomie expressed concern over the continued abductions and questioned why security agencies have not been able to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crimes. According to him, the kidnappings are unlikely to be carried out without the backing of influential sponsors.
Speaking during a church service, the pastor suggested that individuals with political influence could be providing support for the criminal activities. He argued that kidnappers often operate with confidence and publicity, a situation he believes points to the involvement of powerful interests.
“They are not just picking these children without sponsors. Politicians must be behind it; they can’t pick children and show their pictures,” he said.
The cleric also questioned the effectiveness of intelligence gathering by security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services. He noted that modern surveillance and communication technologies make it possible to track individuals and determine their locations.
“Do you know that even the DSS can track people and know where they are, so how come they are not tracking these kidnappers?” he asked.
Ibiyeomie further suggested that an “invisible hand” may be protecting those responsible for the abductions, arguing that the inability to consistently arrest perpetrators raises concerns about the forces enabling such crimes.
His remarks add to ongoing national conversations about insecurity, kidnapping and the safety of schools across Nigeria. Security experts and public officials have repeatedly called for stronger intelligence gathering, improved coordination among security agencies and enhanced protection for vulnerable communities.
Recent kidnappings have renewed concerns among parents, educators and community leaders, with many urging authorities to intensify efforts to rescue victims and bring perpetrators to justice.
