JAMB, Rite Foods to Reward Seven Outstanding Undergraduates with ₦5m Each
JAMB and Rite Foods will honour seven exceptional undergraduates with ₦5 million each for outstanding academic performance during the 2025 admission exercise at a ceremony in Lagos.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in partnership with Rite Foods Limited, will on Tuesday honour seven outstanding Nigerian undergraduates with ₦5 million each at the maiden Academic Excellence Recognition Award Ceremony in Lagos.
The initiative is designed to reward exceptional academic performance recorded during the 2025 admission exercise and encourage excellence among students seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
In a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, said each recipient would receive the cash prize in recognition of their outstanding performance in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the Post-UTME or institutional screening conducted by their respective universities.
“Each of the seven award recipients will receive ₦5 million in recognition of their exceptional performance in both the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the respective Post-UTME or institutional screening exercises conducted by their admitting universities,” the statement read.
According to JAMB, the beneficiaries emerged through a transparent, rigorous and merit-based selection process coordinated by the examination body.
The board explained that six of the awardees represent Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, while the seventh award is reserved for the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability.
The beneficiaries are students of the University of Lagos (South-West), the University of Uyo (South-South), the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (South-East), the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (North-West), the University of Maiduguri (North-East), and the Federal University of Technology, Minna (North-Central).
JAMB disclosed that the recipient of the special award for the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability is also from the University of Lagos, making the institution the only university with two award recipients in the maiden edition.
The ceremony is expected to attract more than 300 participants, including the Minister of Education, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, vice-chancellors, heads of regulatory agencies, principal officers of tertiary institutions, education stakeholders, development partners, corporate leaders, students and members of the media.
JAMB noted that its collaboration with Rite Foods reflects the shared commitment of both organisations to promoting academic excellence, rewarding merit and inspiring young Nigerians to pursue educational success.
The board expressed confidence that the initiative would motivate students nationwide to strive for higher academic achievement while reinforcing the importance of merit in Nigeria’s education system.
