France will rely on their star-studded attack when they face Sweden in a 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash on Tuesday, as the knockout stage continues with several high-profile fixtures across the United States.

Les Bleus will once again look to Kylian Mbappe, who has already scored four goals in the tournament, alongside Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele and in-form winger Michael Olise to break down the Swedish defence.

Dembele heads into the match full of confidence after scoring a hat-trick in France’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Norway during the group stage, while Olise has impressed with his creativity and direct attacking play.

France are seeking a third consecutive World Cup final appearance after lifting the trophy in 2018 and finishing runners-up to Argentina in 2022.

However, coach Didier Deschamps has warned against underestimating Sweden despite France entering the tie as favourites.

“Sweden are playing for their survival. Obviously they will do everything to win the game,” Deschamps said.

“We need to stay humble, maintain our determination and concentration. In the group stage winning the first game gave us some margin for error, but now we have no second chances.”

Sweden, managed by English coach Graham Potter, progressed to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams despite suffering a heavy 5-1 defeat to the Netherlands during the group phase.

Potter admitted his side faces a huge challenge against one of the tournament favourites.

“They have quality all over the pitch. They have won the World Cup before and they have a fantastic manager,” Potter said.

“An exciting challenge awaits us, and we will have to play the game of our lives.”

Elsewhere, Norway will take on Ivory Coast in Dallas with Erling Haaland expected to return after being rested during the defeat to France.

Norway coach Stale Solbakken described Haaland as “one of the best players in the world” and praised his leadership qualities.

Co-hosts Mexico will also continue their campaign against Ecuador at the Estadio Azteca, hoping to book a place in the Round of 16 in front of their home supporters.

Earlier knockout matches saw Paraguay eliminate Germany on penalties, Morocco defeat the Netherlands in a shootout, and Brazil come from behind to beat Japan 2-1 to secure their place in the next round.
