A former Secretary of the National Judicial Council (NJC) has clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the upcoming bye-election for the Nasarawa North Senatorial District seat.
The former NJC scribe emerged as the party's flag-bearer following the conduct of the APC primary election held to select a candidate for the senatorial bye-election in the district.
The primary, which was conducted in line with the guidelines of the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), produced the former judicial official as the consensus choice of delegates and stakeholders.
The bye-election became necessary following the vacancy created in the Nasarawa North Senatorial District, paving the way for a fresh contest to fill the seat at the National Assembly.
Party leaders and stakeholders expressed confidence in the ability of the candidate to deliver effective representation, citing his wealth of experience, integrity and track record in public service.
The emergence of the former NJC secretary is expected to strengthen the APC's position in the senatorial district as the party prepares for the keenly anticipated bye-election.
In his reaction, the candidate reportedly expressed gratitude to the party leadership and delegates for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to justify their trust by working towards victory at the polls and delivering quality representation to the people of the district.
He called for unity among party members and supporters, urging them to close ranks and work together to ensure a resounding victory in the bye-election.
The candidate also assured the electorate of his commitment to addressing the developmental needs of the senatorial district if elected, promising to prioritise the welfare and interests of his constituents.
