Refiloe Jane says South Africa will give everything against Nigeria as both teams fight for another World Cup qualification chance.

Banyana Banyana captain, Refiloe Jane, has declared South Africa’s readiness for the crucial 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup playoff clash against Nigeria’s Super Falcons.

South Africa and Nigeria were both eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, missing out on automatic qualification for the 2027 World Cup.

Banyana Banyana suffered a 2-1 defeat to hosts Morocco, while the Super Falcons were edged 1-0 by Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses.

The two African giants will now meet in Casablanca on Thursday night, with a place in the inter-confederation playoffs at stake.

The encounter will take place at the Moulay Rachid Stadium, where both teams will be determined to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive.

Jane admitted that South Africa would have preferred to secure automatic qualification through the continental tournament but insisted that the team remained focused on taking advantage of their second opportunity.

“It will be a crucial match for the team. We came here with an objective to qualify for the World Cup. We would have liked to qualify the first time, but things didn’t go our way,” Jane told a press conference in Casablanca.

The experienced midfielder said the disappointment of losing to Morocco had not affected the team’s determination.

She explained that the players had maintained their focus and were prepared to give everything in the decisive encounter against Nigeria.

“We keep our heads up high. We have another opportunity to do so, so our focus is on the next match, to try and give it our all to continue on this journey,” she said.

The meeting between South Africa and Nigeria promises to be another competitive chapter in one of African women’s football’s biggest rivalries.

Both sides will be seeking redemption after falling short in the WAFCON quarter-finals, while victory would move the winner closer to securing a place at the 2027 World Cup.
