End Terrorism Within 90 Days or Quit, Adeboye Tells Service Chiefs

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has called on the Federal Government to issue a 90-day ultimatum to Nigeria’s security chiefs to eliminate terrorists or step down from their positions.

Adeboye made the appeal in a video shared on his social media platform on Tuesday, expressing deep concern over the persistent insecurity affecting several parts of the country. He urged the government to take decisive action and hold security leaders accountable for results in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

According to the respected cleric, while citizens and religious leaders can only advise the Commander-in-Chief, the responsibility for directing the nation’s security architecture rests with the government. He argued that security chiefs should be given a clear deadline to achieve measurable progress against terrorist groups.

“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would quietly tell the government to move fast and instruct the security chiefs to get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,” Adeboye stated.

The pastor further urged authorities to target not only terrorists but also those financing and supporting their activities. He stressed that sponsors of violent groups should be brought to justice regardless of their social status, political influence, or economic power.

“When giving orders to the service chiefs, it should be made clear that they are not only to eliminate terrorists but also their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be,” he said.

Adeboye recalled a similar directive reportedly issued by a former Nigerian president to security chiefs during the height of the Boko Haram insurgency. According to him, the security agencies responded swiftly at the time, but the directive was not fully enforced after the deadline expired.

The cleric said his experience and interactions with the late president influenced his current recommendation. He maintained that the country’s worsening security situation requires stronger leadership, accountability, and sustained action against criminal networks.

Adeboye reiterated that defeating terrorism requires not only confronting armed groups but also dismantling the structures and individuals that fund and sustain them. He urged the government to act urgently to restore public confidence and improve national security across the country.
