The Ekiti Council of Elders has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his re-election, praising his first-term achievements and expressing confidence that his second tenure will deliver even greater development across the state.
In a congratulatory letter signed by the Council's President, Prof. Joseph Oluwasanmi, and Secretary, Elder Niyi Ajibulu, the elders described Oyebanji's victory in the June 20 governorship election as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his administration by the people of Ekiti. They noted that his first term witnessed significant progress in several sectors.
The council highlighted improvements in road infrastructure, saying the projects had enhanced transportation in both urban and rural communities. It also commended the governor's youth empowerment initiatives, particularly in agriculture, as well as programmes supporting women through small-scale businesses and entrepreneurship.
According to the elders, the governor's inclusive style of leadership and commitment to good governance contributed significantly to his overwhelming electoral victory. They urged him to sustain the momentum by implementing policies that would further improve the welfare of residents and accelerate economic development across the state.
The council expressed optimism that Oyebanji's second term would consolidate the gains already recorded and strengthen Ekiti's position as one of Nigeria's fastest-developing states. It also called on residents to continue supporting the administration in its efforts to promote peace, unity and sustainable development.
