Adeboye Defends Tinubu, Says President Has Played His Part on Insecurity
Pastor Enoch Adeboye has defended President Bola Tinubu over insecurity, arguing that the president has played his role by issuing directives to the military and security agencies, which are responsible for carrying out security operations.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has defended President Bola Tinubu against criticism over the country's worsening insecurity, saying the president has fulfilled his responsibility by directing the military and security agencies to confront the threat.
Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, D.C., Adeboye said it was unfair to place the entire blame for Nigeria's security challenges on the president. According to him, Tinubu, as Commander-in-Chief, has issued the necessary directives, while it is the duty of the armed forces and security agencies to implement those orders effectively.
The cleric stressed that insecurity did not begin under the current administration and noted that successive governments had grappled with terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes. He urged Nigerians to support ongoing efforts to restore peace rather than engage in unconstructive criticism.
Adeboye also called for continued prayers for the nation and its leaders, expressing confidence that Nigeria would overcome its security challenges through collective effort, effective leadership and divine intervention. He encouraged security personnel to remain committed to protecting lives and property across the country.
His remarks come weeks after he urged the Federal Government to give security chiefs a deadline to decisively tackle terrorism, underscoring his continued concern about the country's security situation while maintaining that responsibility for operational results rests with the relevant agencies.
