CDQ Says Upcoming Artistes Struggle Without Powerful Backing in Music Industry
Nigerian rapper CDQ has claimed that upcoming musicians face major challenges in the music industry if they do not belong to influential groups or circles.
Nigerian rapper CDQ has alleged that many upcoming artistes struggle to make progress in the music industry unless they are connected to powerful groups or circles.**
Popular Nigerian indigenous rapper, Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, widely known as CDQ has stirred conversation after claiming that it is difficult for emerging musicians to succeed in the Nigerian music industry without belonging to influential groups.
CDQ made the claim during a recent interview with content creator **JBrandy**, where he spoke about the challenges young and independent artistes face while trying to build their careers. According to the rapper, the entertainment space has become divided into strong circles, making it tough for artistes without connections to get support or visibility.
He alleged that some artistes spend large amounts of money on promotion and career development but still fail to get meaningful results because they do not have backing from certain influential groups.
CDQ said only a few musicians have been able to break into the mainstream without such affiliations, adding that those who succeeded independently were fortunate.
His comments have added to ongoing discussions about gatekeeping, influence and access in the Nigerian entertainment industry, especially for young talents trying to gain recognition without major industry support.
The rapper’s remarks also highlight the pressure many upcoming artistes face as they compete for attention in a highly competitive music market where promotion, networking and visibility play major roles in career growth.
