Wizkid to Headline 2026 Detty December Fest, Boosting Lagos Festive Economy
Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Wizkid has been confirmed as the first headliner for Detty December Fest 2026, set to open the 13-day Lagos festival on December 18 with a grand concert at the Detty December Village
Grammy-winning Afrobeats superstar Wizkid will headline the opening night of the 2026 Detty December Fest in Lagos, festival organisers Livespot360 have announced.
The 13-day event will run from December 18 to 30, 2026, featuring music, culture, food, fashion and entertainment across two stages: the Detty Festival Stage and the Pulse Stage.
Wizkid is scheduled to perform on Friday, December 18, at 6 pm at the Detty December Village in Lagos, kicking off what organisers describe as one of the biggest concert events of the year.
The “Essence” singer will take the stage on the Detty Festival Stage, while the Pulse Stage will serve as a dedicated platform for next-generation artists, emerging sounds and breakthrough talent helping to define the future of African music.
Livespot360 said the announcement marked the official start of the countdown to December, with Wizkid leading the opening night of Detty December Fest 2026.
The festival is expected to attract thousands of revellers to Lagos during the “Detty December” period, a time when the city experiences a surge in visitors from across Nigeria and the diaspora for holidays, concerts and social events.
By positioning Wizkid as the opening headliner, organisers aim to draw large crowds from the first day and sustain momentum throughout the two-week celebration, boosting attendance at subsequent shows and activities.
The event is also projected to generate significant economic activity for Lagos, with benefits for hotels, restaurants, transport operators, fashion designers, food vendors and other businesses that thrive during the festive season.
Detty December has become synonymous with Lagos’ annual holiday entertainment rush, and the inclusion of a global star like Wizkid is expected to reinforce the city’s reputation as a leading destination for music and cultural tourism in Africa.
With more headliners and programme details likely to be announced in the coming weeks, the 2026 edition of Detty December Fest is positioned to be a major highlight of Nigeria’s end-of-year calendar.
