Burna Boy Becomes African Artiste With Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries
Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy has become the African artiste with the most Billboard Hot 100 entries, surpassing Tems after securing a ninth appearance through FIFA World Cup song.
Grammy-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star, Burna Boy, has become the African artiste with the highest number of entries on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart.
The achievement sees Burna Boy surpass fellow Nigerian singer Tems, who previously shared the record with him.
Burna Boy announced the milestone on his social media platforms on Tuesday, describing it as another major accomplishment in his music career.
The singer secured his ninth Billboard Hot 100 entry through his collaboration with Colombian global music star Shakira on the official FIFA World Cup song, Dai Dai.
The song debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, pushing Burna Boy’s total entries to nine and placing him ahead of every other African artiste on the prestigious ranking.
The collaboration gained additional attention after Burna Boy and Shakira performed the song during the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
Before the latest achievement, Burna Boy and Tems were tied with eight entries each on the Billboard Hot 100.
With the new record, Tems now holds the second-highest number of Billboard Hot 100 appearances among African artistes.
The milestone further highlights Burna Boy’s growing influence in the global music industry and his consistent success in breaking barriers for African music on international platforms.
In addition to becoming the African artiste with the most Billboard Hot 100 entries, Burna Boy is also the first African artiste to chart at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 in six consecutive years.
His Billboard Hot 100 entries include “Loved By You” in 2021, “Last Last” in 2022, “Sitting On Top of the World” and “Talibans II” in 2023, “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” in 2024, “WGFT” in 2025, and “Only You” alongside “Dai Dai” in 2026.
The latest record comes shortly after Burna Boy surpassed 40 million monthly listeners on Spotify, marking a new personal milestone on the streaming platform.
Industry observers say the achievement reflects the growing global acceptance of Afrobeats and the increasing influence of African artistes in mainstream international music markets.
