BREAKING: Gunmen Kidnap Ex-Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons in Ibadan

The family of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has confirmed the abduction of his younger sister and her twin sons by armed gunmen in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, the incident occurred in the early hours of June 3, 2026.

The victims were identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, aged 43, and her twin sons, Peter and Paul, aged 12.

Reports indicate that the abduction happened around 7:30 a.m. while she was on her way to drop the children at school when armed men intercepted their vehicle and forcefully whisked them away.

The attack has heightened concerns about worsening insecurity in parts of Oyo State, particularly incidents targeting commuters and school-related movements.

Mrs. John-Paul, according to the family, is a former staff member of both the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian, and had recently retired before relocating to Ibadan with her children.

She was reportedly preparing to join her husband in the United States before the abduction occurred.

The family said security agencies were immediately alerted and have begun investigations aimed at locating and rescuing the victims.

They added that efforts are ongoing by law enforcement authorities to secure their safe release and apprehend those responsible for the kidnapping.

While expressing concern over the incident, the family urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could disrupt rescue operations.

They also appealed for prayers and any useful information that could assist security agencies in tracking down the abductors.

The Oyo State Police Command has yet to fully confirm the details at the time of reporting, with its spokesperson stating that verification was still ongoing.
