2027: Oyedepo Declares Church Can Determine Nigeria's Next Leaders, Mobilises Members for Voter Cards
Bishop David Oyedepo urged church members to obtain their PVCs ahead of the 2027 elections, saying the church’s population gives it a voice in determining Nigeria’s leaders.
The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has urged members of the church to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the church’s population gives it the capacity to influence who emerges as leaders.
Oyedepo made the call on Sunday while delivering a sermon titled, “Breaking the Curses of Life,” during a service at Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State.
The cleric described participation in the electoral process as a civic responsibility, stressing that Christians should not remain passive while decisions about the country’s leadership are being made.
He said every eligible citizen has the constitutional right to participate in determining who governs the nation through the ballot box.
“We have a civic responsibility as responsible citizens of our various nations.
“We are not passers-by in our nations. We are bona fide citizens of the nation and we have a right to participate in who governs us.
“We have a right to determine who rules us. And this church, with the millions that we have, has a say in it. So be part of it,” Oyedepo said.
He urged members of the congregation to ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the next general elections, describing voting as both a democratic right and a civic obligation.
Oyedepo maintained that the church’s numerical strength gives it a significant voice in shaping the nation’s future and encouraged worshippers to participate actively in the electoral process.
