Two Senatorial Aspirants Withdraw from APC Primaries in Kebbi
Two senatorial aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah and Sani M. Kabiru, have withdrawn from the party’s primary elections scheduled for May 18, 2026.
Na’Allah, a former representative of Kebbi South Senatorial District, confirmed his withdrawal in a letter dated May 17 and addressed to the APC state chairman in Birnin Kebbi.
He said his decision followed consultations and what he described as information about the party’s disposition toward the upcoming primaries.
“After careful consultations and credible information available to me regarding the disposition of the party toward the forthcoming primary election, I have decided to withdraw from the contest,” he stated.
Na’Allah, a founding member of the APC, said he had devoted over 14 years to building and strengthening the party at both state and national levels, adding that his withdrawal was in the interest of unity and stability.
“I have dedicated over 14 years to building and strengthening this party. My decision is borne out of respect for the unity, peace, and progress of the APC,” he added.
He also expressed appreciation to his supporters and constituents, particularly those who supported his nomination process financially.
“I remain grateful to my supporters and the good people of Kebbi South for their trust, encouragement, and sacrifices throughout this journey,” he said.
Similarly, Sani M. Kabiru, also known as Kabiru Sani Giant, who was contesting for the Kebbi Central Senatorial ticket, announced his withdrawal in a letter dated May 16.
He cited personal, political and strategic considerations for his decision and thanked party leaders and supporters for their encouragement throughout his campaign.
“I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming support and solidarity shown to me by party stakeholders, supporters, and members of my campaign team,” he said.
Kabiru reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged continued commitment to the party’s success in future elections.
“My commitment to the APC remains unwavering, and I will continue to work for the success and stability of our great party,” he stated.
The withdrawals come amid ongoing political realignments and heightened maneuvering within the APC in Kebbi State ahead of the senatorial primaries.
