ITF Opens 47,600-Litre Capacity Fuel Station In Plateau

The Industrial Training Fund has commissioned a new 47,600-litre capacity fuel station in Jos, Plateau State, as part of efforts to improve staff welfare and strengthen the agency’s operational efficiency.

The facility was commissioned on Monday by the Director-General of the ITF, Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, who described the project as part of a broader welfare initiative introduced under his administration.

Ogun said the fuel station was developed after he observed that the location was previously used only as a fuel dump for ITF vehicles.

He explained that the facility would allow ITF staff to purchase fuel using their staff identification cards, with payments deducted gradually from their salaries.

According to him, the arrangement was designed to benefit employees across all levels of the organisation.

The Director-General said the project was one of several initiatives being implemented under his administration, which focuses on skills acquisition, automation of ITF processes and workforce welfare.

The Director of the Estate Management Department, Dauda Msheliza, said the facility was constructed on a 2,150-square-metre site that had previously been abandoned and underutilised.

He explained that Ogun directed the rehabilitation and modernisation of the location into a functional fuel station under the agency’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The contract was awarded on May 16, 2025, while construction was completed in March 2026.

Msheliza said the facility has a Premium Motor Spirit storage and dispensing capacity of 47,600 litres, while provision had also been made for Compressed Natural Gas, although the CNG installation is yet to be completed.

Ogun said the commissioning was only the beginning of several projects planned by the ITF. He disclosed that about 24 to 25 residential flats were also being commissioned, while plans were underway for a Digital Fabrication Centre in Ogbomoso and a Skills Academy for secondary school students.

He further outlined plans to establish specialised training centres across different regions, focusing on areas including ceramics, leather, metals and offshore fabrication.

The Director-General also highlighted the ITF’s broader role in skills development, saying the agency was promoting technical education alongside entrepreneurship, patriotism, ethics, safety and project management.

He urged staff to remain focused on their duties and disregard rumours, expressing confidence that the administration’s initiatives would continue to deliver tangible improvements for workers and the organisation.
