Troops Rescue Eight Kidnap Victims in Plateau Forest Operation

Troops of Sector 9 under Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace have rescued eight kidnapped victims during a clearance operation in Pandam Forest, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected kidnappers in the area.

According to the military, the operation commenced in the early hours after troops launched a deliberate offensive against the criminal hideout. The suspected kidnappers reportedly opened fire while attempting to escape, leading to a gun battle with the advancing troops.

During the exchange, three of the abducted victims managed to escape from their captors. Troops subsequently intensified search and clearance operations across the forest, resulting in the rescue of five additional victims and bringing the total number rescued to eight. The military confirmed that all the rescued individuals are safe and will be reunited with their families.

The Joint Task Force said the successful operation reflected its continued commitment to tackling kidnapping and other forms of criminality within its operational area. It also commended local residents for providing credible intelligence that contributed to the success of the mission.

Military authorities assured the public that operations would continue across Plateau State and neighbouring areas to dismantle criminal hideouts and improve security. They urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with timely information on suspicious activities.
