Troops Foil Raid in Sokoto, Rescue 7 Abducted Farmers and Recover Stolen Motorcycles
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma’s 8 Division have foiled a morning bandit attack on farmlands in Gandi, Sokoto State, rescuing seven abducted farmers and recovering stolen motorcycles after forcing the attackers to retreat.
In a swift tactical response, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully foiled a bandit raid on agricultural communities in Sokoto State, rescuing seven kidnapped farmers and recovering multiple stolen motorcycles. The successful field operation occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in the Gandi axis of Rabah Local Government Area.
The encounter began when heavily armed bandits stormed local farmlands around the Gandi community, aiming to abduct rural laborers and systematically dispossess them of their property at the peak of the agricultural cultivation season. Alerted to the unfolding attack, troops of the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army deployed nearby immediately mobilized and engaged the criminal elements in a fierce firefight. The coordinated operational pressure forced the bandits to abandon their captives, forfeit the vehicles they had confiscated from the villagers, and retreat back into the remote forest networks.
During the armed encounter, one civilian sustained a gunshot wound inflicted by the fleeing bandits. Army medical personnel successfully evacuated the wounded individual to the General Hospital in Gandi, where they are currently receiving clinical treatment. Following the successful recovery of the stolen motorcycles and the formal handover of the rescued victims, military commanders have intensified patrol loops along the Rabah border corridors to protect agrarian workers from retaliatory hit-and-run incursions.
