Transfer: Vinicius Jr Demands €30m Salary as Arsenal Interest Grows
Vinicius Jr seeks €30 million yearly salary, with Real Madrid yet to meet his contract demands.
Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr is demanding a significant salary increase as contract negotiations with the Spanish giants remain at a standstill, amid reports linking him with Arsenal.
The Brazilian international has been in talks with Real Madrid over a new long-term contract for several months, but both parties are yet to reach an agreement.
According to reports, Vinicius currently earns €15 million net per year, while Real Madrid have proposed increasing his salary to €20 million annually.
However, the 26-year-old is reportedly holding out for €30 million per year, a figure that works out to more than €550,000 per week after tax.
The wage dispute has fuelled speculation over his future, with Arsenal among the clubs reportedly monitoring developments, although the financial demands involved could prove difficult for any Premier League side to match.
Spanish football expert Terry Gibson, speaking on Sky Sports News, said negotiations have remained deadlocked despite lengthy discussions.
“There’s no budging on the contract from Real Madrid or Vinicius,” Gibson said.
He added that the situation has been ongoing for around 18 months, with neither side willing to compromise on their respective positions.
According to Gibson, Real Madrid are already exploring alternatives in the transfer market should negotiations ultimately collapse.
He claimed the Spanish club has identified RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as a potential replacement for Vinicius.
“Real Madrid are looking at a potential replacement in Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. This contract situation has been ongoing for 18 months,” Gibson explained.
Despite Arsenal’s reported interest, Gibson believes the financial package demanded by Vinicius makes a move to England unlikely.
“When you put those figures in the melting pot, it’s hard to imagine Arsenal or anybody in the Premier League matching those sums of money,” he said.
Vinicius has been one of Real Madrid’s standout performers in recent seasons, playing a crucial role in the club’s domestic and European successes.
The Brazil international remains under contract at the Santiago Bernabéu, but uncertainty over his future is expected to continue unless both parties find common ground on fresh terms.
With the summer transfer window still open, the winger’s contract situation is likely to remain one of the biggest stories in European football.
