Transfer: Mourinho Urges Real Madrid to Sign Yan Diomande
José Mourinho reportedly approves Yan Diomande as Real Madrid’s top transfer target ahead of the new season.
Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has reportedly urged the club to complete the signing of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, identifying the Ivory Coast international as one of his priority transfer targets.
According to reports, Mourinho has given his approval for the proposed move as the Spanish giants continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
The reports claim that Real Madrid have already submitted an offer worth £85 million, comprising £75 million as a fixed fee and an additional £10 million in performance-related add-ons, in an attempt to secure the services of the highly rated attacker.
Diomande has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after young talents following a series of impressive performances for RB Leipzig, attracting interest from several elite clubs.
Mourinho is understood to be keen on adding greater pace and attacking dynamism to his frontline as he reshapes the squad for the coming campaign.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed the development in a post on X, stating that Mourinho had personally endorsed the move.
“José Mourinho has approved Yan Diomande as top target for Real Madrid,” Romano wrote.
He added that the Portuguese coach had informed the club’s hierarchy of his desire to recruit players capable of increasing the team’s attacking speed.
“Mourinho indicated to Madrid board his need to have ‘even more speed’ and fresh legs upfront,” Romano said.
Although neither Real Madrid nor RB Leipzig has officially confirmed the reported bid, speculation surrounding Diomande’s future has intensified in recent days.
The winger’s pace, direct style of play and ability to operate across multiple attacking positions are believed to have convinced Mourinho that he would be an ideal addition to the squad.
Should the transfer materialise, Diomande would become one of the biggest signings of the current transfer window and further strengthen Madrid’s attacking options.
Real Madrid are expected to continue negotiations with RB Leipzig in the coming days as they seek to reach an agreement before the start of the new season.
The Spanish club has been active in the transfer market this summer as Mourinho looks to assemble a squad capable of challenging for domestic and European honours.
Diomande remains under contract with RB Leipzig, meaning any transfer will depend on both clubs reaching acceptable financial terms.
