Tinubu Swears In New Power Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
President Tinubu has sworn in Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs following Senate confirmation and ministerial resignations.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday swore in Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the new Minister of Power and Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The ceremony was attended by family members of the ministers and senior government officials. Their appointments followed the resignations of former ministers Yusuf Tuggar and Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions. Both nominees were cleared by the Senate on May 6, 2026.
Tegbe, an accomplished economic and institutional reform expert from Oyo State, brings more than 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors. He holds a First Class degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University and postgraduate degrees in Business Administration and Public Administration. He previously served as a senior partner at KPMG, where he led major fiscal and governance reform initiatives.
During his career, Tegbe worked with several key institutions and companies, including Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Shell, Huawei, General Electric and MTN.
Enikanolaiye, a seasoned diplomat from Kogi State, holds a First Class degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University and a distinction-level Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from University of Lagos.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1982 and rose to become Permanent Secretary before retiring in 2017 after 35 years of service. During his diplomatic career, he served in Nigerian missions in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa and London.
