Prsesident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the gallant troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces for the successful elimination of a notorious bandit kingpin, Ibrahim Bastuji, describing the feat as a major boost in the ongoing war against banditry and terrorism in the country.

The President, in a statement, hailed the courage, professionalism, and renewed vigour of the security forces, assuring that his administration would continue to provide the necessary support and equipment needed to decisively defeat criminal elements threatening the peace and stability of the nation.

Bastuji, who was reportedly responsible for several deadly attacks, kidnappings, and killings in the North West region, was neutralised during a coordinated military operation, marking another significant milestone in the renewed offensive against banditry.

President Tinubu described the elimination of the dreaded bandit leader as a clear demonstration of the military's growing capacity and determination to rid the country of criminal networks.

"I commend our brave and gallant troops for this remarkable achievement. The neutralisation of Ibrahim Bastuji is a testament to the renewed commitment, professionalism, and courage of our Armed Forces," the President said.

"This is a clear message to all criminal elements that there is no hiding place for those who seek to terrorise our people. We will continue to pursue them relentlessly until peace is fully restored across the country."

The President reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of security personnel, pledging to continue prioritising their training, equipment, and motivation to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.

He also extended his appreciation to the families of security operatives for their sacrifices and support, urging them to continue standing by their loved ones in the fight to secure the nation.

President Tinubu further called on Nigerians to support the efforts of the security agencies by providing useful and timely information that would aid the ongoing operations against bandits, terrorists, and other criminal elements.

He assured citizens that the government would not relent in its efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property, restore lasting peace, and create an enabling environment for socio-economic development across all parts of the country.

The neutralisation of Bastuji is the latest in a series of successful military operations recorded in recent times, as the Armed Forces intensify the onslaught against banditry, terrorism, and other forms of criminality in the North West and other troubled regions.

Security experts have described the development as a significant achievement that could weaken the operational capacity of bandit groups in the affected areas and pave the way for the return of displaced persons to their communities.

Residents of communities long terrorised by Bastuji and his gang have welcomed the news with relief, expressing hope that the development will usher in a new era of peace and security in the region.

The military has assured the public that operations will continue until all criminal elements are completely flushed out and normalcy is fully restored across the affected areas.
